Today's Education system is seriously flawed-- it focuses on teaching rather than learning.
"Education is an admirable thing, but it is well to remember from time to time that nothing is worth learning can be taught ."
In most of the schools, memorization is mistaken for learning. Most of what is remembered is remembered only for a short time, but then is quickly forgotten.
I have a very simple proposition. The more we teach, the more students learn-- But some students are learned more than others.
The quantity of human knowledge is exploding. Rather than memorizing material from static textbooks, students need to learn how to become analyst and investigator who can work with knowledge. He himself assembles to solve complex problems we have not managed to solve.
We must help students learn how to find and apply knowledge. But we also need to teach students in ways that ensure that a good deal of knowledge is absorbed and retained in their own heads.
On a broader level, we all should identify and estimate the influence of educational, psychological and social factors on learning; rather than mere concentrating on completion of curriculum.
